What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

I loved capturing a day that brings a couple joy.
Weddings can fly by for a couple and I loved capturing the moments and details that they may have missed, and the feelings they’ll never forget.
I loved the details, center pieces, keep sakes, decor.
The little decorations that the couple chose.
Highlighting the time and effort put into the day.
I loved being surrounded by love and joy.
Weddings grounded me, while also igniting parts of me that life overshadows.
I loved the confidence I felt when I got that photograph.
The one that speaks a thousand words.
I loved getting to know the couples.
Then, finding a way to tell the story through pictures.
I loved the creativity and attention to detail it brought out in me.
I loved the time and attention I gave to making sure the photographs were perfect.
I loved capturing the joy their loved ones had during their day.
I loved capturing the innocence of the flower girls.
I loved being around the friendships of the bridal party.
I loved the moms of the bride and groom.
The pride they wore for their children.
I loved noticing a moment that’s hidden in the background.
I loved the feeling of being behind the camera.
I loved the respect most of the guests gave.
I loved the control of the moments I had.
It balanced out the lack of control in my life.
I loved how important it was to me.
I loved the praise and appreciation from the couple and their guests.
I loved the couple that dressed up and wanted to remember that moment and ask me to snap a picture.
It makes me sad that I allowed my self-doubt and lack of support from my partners stop me.
Photography was always so important to me.
Something I respected and was excited for.
Now, I don’t even own a camera and have no network or connections to even try to do it again.
Maybe one day.
When surviving isn’t the norm.
And I can give the art the attention and value it deserves.
Until then, my iPhone and memories will hold space.
