Accomplishment.

What brings a tear of joy to your eye?

Watching someone accomplish something—especially in front of an audience. There’s something about seeing that pride radiate from them in the exact moment it’s happening. My empathy kicks in so strong it bleeds out of my eyes, and I can’t help but cry right along with them.

When I’m at one of my kids’ school functions and I see those kids on stage, glowing with pride and joy, it hits me hard. Their little faces light up, their voices shake with excitement, and it’s impossible not to feel it too. That kind of joy is contagious—it moves straight through me.

Even when I’m just watching a show like America’s Got Talent and someone has that life-changing moment—the audience cheering, the performer overwhelmed and unable to hide their pride—I’m crying like a baby. Not because I’m sad, but because they are so happy. That kind of happiness is powerful. It reminds me how deeply connected we all are.

And maybe that’s what it really says about me: I feel everything. I can’t shut off my empathy, even if I tried. When someone else’s moment of joy moves through a room, I catch it like a wave, and I’m carried with them. To me, those are the most beautiful moments life has to offer—the ones where happiness isn’t just theirs, it’s shared.
